A Survey of North West Commissioners and Workshop Event 29th January 2009
CSIP North West (on behalf of the North West Joint Improvement Partnership (JIP)) is collecting some survey information relating to the implications of Joint Strategic Needs Assessments and Commissioning in the North West. The results, which will be anonymised, will help to design future JIP support to local areas in their delivery of improvements in health and well-being in line with key policy drivers as well as feeding into the work of the North West Public Health Observatory (NWPHO), and will also inform local contributions to the recently-formed national JSNA Reference Group.
The following workshop event for commissioners was organised in connection with this survey and the development of JSNAs: Joint Strategic Needs Assessments and Commissioning – What Helps? More than fifty delegates attended this workshop at Haydock Park. The focus was current developments in Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, and the commissioning implications that arise from these. Previous Meetings in 2008: Practice-Based Commissioning - Challenge or Opportunity? The last meeting of the Forum took place on 24th November 2008 and focussed on practice-based and locality commissioning. Presentations by Dr Louise Edwards (NHS North West) and Professor Chris Heginbotham (UCLAN) on PBC, Jane English (Halton Borough Council) and Natalie Hendry-Jones (NHS Halton and St Helens) on social care in practice, and Gavin Owen (Turning Point) on connected care are available here:
